In response to requests from people who like to get a head start on their festive crafting, I’m running a Christmas in June macramé decorations workshop. This is perfect for macrame beginners and refreshers alike. Absolutely no prior experience needed, just an appreciation for a little cheesy fun in the week where the days are longest. Using some of the most useful macramé knots, we’ll make at least three ornaments that you’ll be able to use in a variety of ways. They include a snowflake, a Christmas tree garland and a Scandi-inspired wreath. There will be plenty of scope for you to add your own flourishes and I'll show you how you can easily adapt them to make other designs to carry on at home. They're simple enough that you'll be able to make them with children and grandchildren if you need some quiet, low-cost activities for rainy days in the summer holidays – or for when it’s too hot to be outside! In addition, I’ll show you the different styles of macramé cord and the effects they can be used to achieve in your future projects. The workshop lasts two hours and there will be a maximum of eight in the group. We’ll be some of the first people to enjoy a workshop at the new Makers’ House cosy new satellite studio, The Makers’ Corner on High Street, Fareham. The price includes all materials and refreshments, (mince pie, anyone?) Christmas tunes and all the festive vibes.
