A month to go until the big day and it's the perfect time to add some more festive twinkle with this beginner-friendly workshop upcycling a humble jam jar with a macramé covering into a functional piece of home décor. These pretty lanterns can also double as a thoughtful present, filled with treats for the lucky person you gift it to. And in the summer you can use it as a pretty vase and fill it with flowers. It's the gift that keeps on giving! Get the kids involved and they could be a lovely teachers' gift for the end of term. You’ll learn the five basic knots that are the foundation of macramé. Once you know these, you can let your imagination run wild, creating your own designs. After the workshop, you’ll have all the skills to make a host of them to fill with fairy lights for plenty of festive sparkle! This workshop is also suitable for improvers and, for confident knotters, there will be plenty of scope to let loose on your own design. Materials are all included. I’ll guide you with step by step instructions and you’ll make at least one macramé jam jar vase. If time permits, you’ll be able to start on another which you can take to finish at home. There will be a selection of colours to choose from. The group is limited to eight participants so that I can give everyone individual attention and make sure you take home a finished piece that you’re proud of. The cord we use for this workshop is thinner than that we use for plant hangers and a certain amount of manual dexterity is needed. The workshop will be seated.
