mothers' day macramé vase workshop
The Makers' House, Fareham, 10am Sun 7 March 2027
workshop details
Here's a lovely macrame workshop to do with your mum and, as it's on Mothering Sunday, there's a little bonus posy of flowers for everyone as well. Not only that, but we'll be finished by 1pm, which should give you time to enjoy the workshop before heading off for a Mothers' Day lunch! It's a beginner-friendly class, upcycling a humble jam jar with a macramé covering into a functional piece of home décor. You can use as it as a pretty vase or a pot for make-up brushes, for example, or how about filling it with some led lights for a boho garden lamp? You’ll learn some of the basic knots that are the foundation of macramé. Once you know these, you can let your imagination run wild, creating your own designs. After the workshop, you’ll have all the skills to make a host of them for long, lazy summer evenings outdoors! They’d look great as wedding table décor as well, if you’re having a boho-chic theme, and it’s a great activity for a hen do or to do with your wedding party. This workshop is also suitable for improvers and, for confident knotters, there will be plenty of scope to let loose on your own design. Materials are all included and I’ll guide you with step by step instructions. The group is limited to eight participants so that I can give everyone individual attention and make sure you take home a finished piece that you’re proud of. The cord we use for this workshop is thinner than that we use for plant hangers and a certain amount of manual dexterity is needed. The workshop will be seated. If you have any questions about accessibility, please do get in touch. Please note the minimum age for this workshop is 16.
